A new wellbeing survey has launched!
We are now inviting Generation 1 and Generation 2 participants to take part in a survey. We will ask our original participants “what is life like now?”.
We will be in touch with our Generation 2 participants and their parents throughout 2025 to invite them to complete a survey.
By being part of this study, you’re helping us uncover how early life experiences shape our health and happiness later on.
The information we collect is important for informing research, policy and practice. It helps us to improve the health and wellbeing of future generations.
The ATP Health Check
From mid-2025 we will be inviting participants from the offspring sample to take part in the ATP Health Check.
What is the ATP Health Check?
The ATP Health Check looks at how the environment and our lifestyles in the first half of life impact health and wellbeing in mid and later life. We want to learn more about how the experiences of parents and grandparents affect their health and wellbeing.
Who will be invited to take part?
Generation 1 and 2 participants who have been involved in our Generation 3 study will be invited to take part.
What’s involved?
The Health Check includes:
- Brain quiz: an online quiz in the comfort of your own home. It takes around 30 minutes to complete.
- Buccal swab: we will post you a kit with instructions to collect a buccal (cheek) swab at home. You can return it in a reply paid envelope.
- Health visit: Generation 2 participants will be invited to attend a 2.5 hour in-person visit at the Royal Children’s Hospital. We may also be able to visit you at a regional centre closer to your home.
At the health visit we’ll look at things like your heart and lung function, your hearing, dental health, and vision. We will also ask to take a small sample of your saliva and blood (using a finger prick). You can say no to anything that you don’t want to do.
Join our participant advisory group!
We are looking for participants from all generations to join our advisory group. By being involved, you can help shape the future of ATP. You may choose to participate in focus group sessions with other participants, or you might prefer to provide your reflections and ideas more casually, via short polls, quizzes or phone surveys.
Why should you get involved?
- Influence our research: shape the future direction of our research by providing guidance based on your experiences.
- Share our findings: have your say on the best way to share the study’s findings with other participants and the public.
- Connect with peers: hear from passionate participants from the ATP.
- Collaborate and engage: work closely with our dedicated research team to drive innovation.
What can you expect if you take part in the focus groups?
- Receive a gift card as a token of appreciation for your valuable time and input.
- Sessions will take place across the year both online and in-person at the Royal Children’s Hospital, Melbourne or Deakin Downtown, Melbourne CBD.
- Focused two-hour sessions led by our expert research team will be designed to spark discussion.
- Enjoy a delicious complimentary morning/afternoon tea while you contribute your insights.
- We’ll reimburse your parking expenses.
- With online options, you can choose to join us from the comfort of your home.
We’d love to hear from you – join us now!
