Our new website

Welcome to our new Australian Temperament Project website, hosted by the The Melbourne Children’s Campus!

We are super excited to be able to share with you our fresh, new look. With a third generation of loyal ATP participants now under way, we thought it only fitting to launch a new generation website as well. As we know from our experience in inter-generational research and to quote Bob Dylan, “the times they are a-changin'”… so we thought we better keep up with them!

Through this new site we aim to bring you an all-encompassing picture of the ATP and what it means to be a part of such an important group, either as a participant or a research collaborator. Here you can find a wealth of information.

For instance, our About us page introduces you to our friendly research team. We feel very privileged to have such a long list of dedicated and highly qualified people working with us at the ATP.

Our Generation 1 & 2 page provides you with the background story to the ATP. It explores how it all started with the recruitment of close to 2500 parents (Generation 1) and their then-infants, back in the early 1980s (that’s you, Generation 2!). We still maintain contact with a very large proportion of these Generation 1 and 2 participants, and as of late 2015 we completed our 16th round of surveys with these two groups. Now that’s commitment.

Our Generation 3 page details the ATP team’s ‘new baby’, headed up by Prof Craig Olsson. This component of the ATP is very unique and is where much of our team’s daily energy is going. In 2011 we successfully launched the new ‘Generation 3’ component of the ATP, where we invite Generation 2 participants and their partners who have had or who are expecting a child into this new group. This three-generational study and all its associated components is really quite fascinating! Read more about what is specifically involved for participating families in the new section titled For Participants.

The Resources section for participants is a new initiative that we hope you will find helpful. We know that at times life can be very challenging, and so here you can find a wealth of resources and support services for all sorts of health and well-being topics. We cover issues that might be relevant to you regardless of whether you are from Generation 1, 2 or 3, and need help for yourself or someone else.

We also have a secure spot for you to update your contact details if they have changed, as well as some common FAQs that we often get asked by participants and their families.

The Publications tab is for everyone, and is a great go-to page to see all the important and influential findings the ATP has published over the last three decades. You can go back in time to see how far we’ve come…

That’s it for now from us! We hope you really enjoy exploring our new website. Remember to follow us on Facebook as well, using the handle @ATPGen3 !

Stay tuned for our next update in the future…
