Meet the Team: Blair Reid

This week in our Meet the Team series say hello to the lovely Blair Reid, one of our Generation 3 interviewers…

Q1) How long have you been involved with the ATP?
“I have been involved with the ATP in two separate roles over the last 5 years. I first volunteered on the study in a student capacity back in 2012. After some time away, earlier this year I re-joined the ATP as part of the Generation 3 interviewing team.”

Q2) What is your favourite part about your role with the ATP?
“I love getting to speak with our amazing participants every day and working with such a dedicated team. I’m always impressed with how engaged our participants are and how generous they are with their time.”

Q3) What is the hardest thing about your role?
“It can be hard to stop talking with a friendly participant at the end of an interview! Our participants get up to such interesting things and share such great stories about their children. It would be great to be able to chat all day with them but we are often super busy and have back to back appointments with other participants.”

Q4) How do you think the ATP is making a difference?
“I think the ATP plays an important role in many participants lives other than just the research benefits. It can be easy to get caught up in the day-to-day of life, but when asked to stop and answer some questions about how you and your family are feeling and coping this can provide a great opportunity for reflection. It can be an opportune moment to consider whether you might need some extra help, as many parents do, or to simply appreciate things that are going well.”

Q5) When you are not at work, how do you relax?
“As I grew up in Queensland, I very much enjoy a trip to the beach with my dog, an umbrella (have to be sun smart) and a good book. If I’m not at the beach you’ll find me with my dog at a café or just out for a stroll taking it easy.”
