“The quality of our social networks, or how we relate to the people around us, is where the rubber hits the road for health and longevity.<\/em>” ATP’s chief investigator, Craig Olsson, shares insights about the impact of ATP<\/a> in the Geelong Advertiser (3rd Oct 2025).<\/p>\n

Deakin University<\/strong><\/p>\n

As part of the University\u2019s 50<\/span>th<\/span> anniversary, Deakin shared the success story of ATP.<\/a>\u00a0<\/span>By following families for three generations, we are one of the few studies worldwide to have insights into how wellbeing develops over time.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

ATP In Policy<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Research from t<\/span><\/span>he Australian Temperament Project (ATP) <\/span><\/span>ha<\/span>s been used to inform programs and <\/span>poli<\/span>cy<\/span> both within Australia and globally. Comprehensive Monitoring: an AEDC Extension Project<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Today, children and young people are living in a world with increasing rates of mental health problems. As a community, we need to find ways to protect the emotional wellbeing of young people and to prepare them for future challenges.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

To do this we have built a new\u202f<\/span>Comprehensive Monitoring System (CMS) <\/span><\/i><\/b>using an e<\/span>vidence-based approach<\/span>. <\/span><\/i><\/b>The CMS is\u202fdesigned to map each stage of childhood and young adulthood development. The CMS has been extensively informed by ATP.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The CMS builds on the Australian Early Development Census (AEDC), which is a federally funded census that captures over 95% of all children across Australia.\u202f<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
