New Research: Adolescence and the next generation

 

New research published in Nature by MCRI researchers, including ATP Gen3’s own Prof Craig Olsson, suggests that we need to think differently about adolescence and how it impacts the next generation. Earlier onset of puberty, and later parenting, over the past 50 years means that today’s adolescents will be the largest generation to become parents in human history. This brings benefits for the next generation through well-nourished and better educated parents; it may also have downsides with risks related to greater parental mental health problems, obesity and substance abuse.
